Road transport of equipment and machinery between CIS countries
How to prepare road freight between CIS countries: check the specific countries, goods status, route and delivery conditions at the destination.
Transportation between CIS countries is needed not only when purchasing new equipment. The equipment is moved to the next facility, returned to the owner, sent for maintenance, or transferred to another unit. In each case, it is important to determine what exactly is being moved, who is sending and receiving the cargo, and what problem the delivery must solve.
Inlogistics organises road transport of equipment, machinery and oversized cargo in the CIS countries. We plan each shipment using actual collection and delivery addresses and confirmed cargo specifications, agree on the terms of transfer and acceptance, and organise the receipt of the necessary special permits.
Distinguish a new purchase from a transfer between sites
For a new purchase, the initial information usually comes from the seller. When moving operating equipment, this information must be collected from the owner and site specialists. Catalogue specifications do not always take into account installed attachments, spare parts and actual transport condition.
First, a list of transported property is compiled with models, identifiers and completeness. If some equipment remains at the same site, this should be clearly noted. The purpose of the move - sale, return, repair or other operation - is transferred to a documentation specialist. It should not be determined by the carrier based on the appearance of the cargo.
CIS does not mean uniform rules for any trip
The CIS and the EAEU are different associations. You cannot draw a conclusion about customs requirements only from the phrase “we are transporting throughout the CIS”. Conditions are checked by countries of departure, transit and destination, status of goods and nature of the transaction.
For the client, this means a simple procedure: before the delivery of transport, provide information about the parties and the cargo, determine the person responsible for processing and confirm the readiness of the documents. A special permit for large vehicles is also not a universal document for all countries on the route.
Preparing equipment for transfer
The owner agrees on the transport condition with the manufacturer or an authorised specialist. The possibility of dismantling components, the requirements for preservation and handling of equipment cannot be replaced by the assumption that it is enough to free up space on the platform. To select transport, you need confirmed weight and dimensions of each cargo item.
It is useful to record the completeness, external condition, and separately shipped accessories in a handover record or other agreed transfer document. Photographs help the parties discuss preparation and acceptance, but do not replace the necessary transport and shipping documents.
Two sites must agree on one schedule
When relocating, it is important to link the readiness of the departure site with the possibility of acceptance at the new location. The truck should not come to pick up equipment that is still in use, and the recipient should know when the agreed unloading team and equipment must be ready.
For planning you will need:
- Contact person responsible at each site;
- exact addresses of entry and places of transfer;
- date of actual release of the equipment;
- list of cargo items and their parameters;
- procedure for transport admission and acceptance.
If the new site is outside the city, provide its coordinates and details of the final approach. A quotation to a city address cannot automatically be applied to a remote site. For oversized transport, access is checked along the actual route.
What should the quotation include?
The proposal should identify the scope of work, route conditions, responsibilities for loading and unloading, and any additional costs. Reassess the transport plan before dispatch if the equipment configuration, addresses or readiness dates change.
Is it possible to transport rented equipment back to the owner? Let's consider such a task after obtaining the parameters and information about the parties. The basis for the movement and documents for return are confirmed by the participants in the operation and the relevant specialist.
Does adding attachments require a new quotation? Additional packages can change the load, weight and transport requirements. Report changes before the vehicle is dispatched, even if the main machine is unchanged.
Provide Inlogistics with the route between sites, a list of equipment and desired dates. We will prepare a quotation for road transport in the CIS, taking into account the actual readiness of the cargo and the conditions for its acceptance.
