Delivery of a wind turbine to a site means transportation of a set of components that must arrive in a clear sequence. Blades, tower sections, nacelles and other components differ in shape, weight and handling conditions. If the quotation covers only the largest cargo item, some of the necessary work and shipments will remain outside the plan. Inlogistics organises road transport of equipment for wind energy projects, starting with the delivery contents and manufacturer's data.

What is included in the transportation project

First, you need a list of all cargo items for a specific installation model. It specifies separately the blades, tower sections, nacelle, hub, auxiliary equipment and transport accessories, if included in the delivery. The composition is clarified with the manufacturer: the same name of the equipment does not mean the same transport configuration.

It is useful to associate each cargo item with an order number, installation number or mounting position. Then the customer sees which part of the kit is ready, what has already been transferred to the carrier and what is still with the supplier. Such a table helps to discuss the real readiness of the project, and not just the number of trucks dispatched.

What data determines the delivery scheme

For each item, dimensions and weight in transport condition, drawing, photographs and manufacturer's requirements for transportation are requested. The parameters of the packaging and provided supports, the need for their return, restrictions on placement and handling of the equipment are clarified. The dimensions of the assembled wind turbine are not suitable for transport planning.

Separately record the addresses of collection and acceptance. If components are produced by different factories, each shipment will have its own availability and access conditions. On this basis, the route and suitable transport are considered. Transportation is carried out according to the manufacturer’s documentation and the agreed project; transport solutions are not selected based solely on the total weight of the order.

How to link supplies with installation

It is important for the recipient to determine in what order the components are needed and how much equipment the site can accept at the same time. The early arrival of several vehicles does not help the project if the storage areas are occupied or acceptance has not yet been organised. The delivery schedule is agreed with those responsible for construction, unloading and installation.

The work plan notes the readiness of each batch, the expected dispatch window, receiving arrangements and dependencies between deliveries. When production or site readiness changes, related shipments are reviewed. The customer determines in advance the employee who has the right to confirm the new schedule so that different participants do not give conflicting instructions.

What do we check before confirming the order?

The proposal should list the stages of road transport, the necessary approvals, the organisation of obtaining special permits and the arrangements for escort vehicles when required. The possibility of passage and the issuance of permits depend on the parameters of the cargo, route and decisions of authorised organisations.

Also agree who prepares the equipment, loads and unloads it, provides the transport supports and receives the cargo. List insurance, waiting time and the return of supports separately. The quotation should show what is included and which details still need confirmation before dispatch.

Frequently asked questions

Is it possible to transport a whole wind turbine assembled? For a large wind turbine, transport is planned using the transport components provided by the manufacturer. The specific contents of the delivery are confirmed by the documentation for the model and the transportation plan.

Is it possible to order delivery of only part of the set? Yes, you can submit a task for individual blades, tower sections, nacelles or other units. For assessment, we need data on the specific cargo items to be transported and the conditions for their acceptance.

Discuss transportation of wind turbines

Send to Inlogistics the specification of components, transport drawings, addresses of factories and sites, and batch readiness plan. If the set of documents is not yet complete, attach the available information and indicate who on the supplier’s side can clarify the parameters. We will prepare a list of information needed for a quotation and discuss the organisation of road delivery.
